Assiniboine Round #2

Armed with prior knowledge and experience I returned to this beautiful mountain, joined by friends Joel and Davie Shine. what was different about this attempt...? well, we tried the NE ridge, it was summer and we drove in from the BC side of the park thus eliminating the 30ish kms of hiking required to get in from Alberta! After a nice 30km drive up logging and mining roads and a close brush with a man-tracker look-a-like we reached a small parking lot in an old cut block. A fun and scenic 6km trail brought us to beautiful Assiniboine lake which we had to swim in! This must have been the point where we went from BC to Alberta because the trail turned into 2km's of scree nightmare!more to come...
